Ingredients
- For cooking beef if needed
- Finely chopped
- Minced

Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. If your ground beef is very lean, add olive oil to the skillet.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 2-3 minutes.Stir frequently to prevent burning.
- Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until fully browned, about 5-7 minutes.Ensure no pink remains in the meat.
- Drain excess fat from the skillet if needed.
- Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, black pepper, and water to the cooked beef. Stir well to combine.
- Simmer the beef mixture over low heat until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Warm the taco tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for 20-30 seconds until soft and pliable.Wrap tortillas in a clean cloth to keep warm.
- Assemble tacos by spooning the beef mixture onto each tortilla and topping with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese, sour cream, and salsa as desired.
Chef's Notes
- For a spicier taco, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the beef mixture.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef if preferred.
- Serve with lime wedges for extra zest.
- Fresh cilantro also makes a great topping if you like it.
